Here’s Looking at You!

OK, so this is a BIT different from Landscapes, Glamour and the like.

This was taken using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) of the eye(s) of an ant. The magnification is x850. The beauty of SEM imaging is that there is rarely any problems with Depth of Field as the object is scanned section by section by the microscope and then recombined via software.

Modern X-Ray machines used in failure analysis of materials can now scan 3D images of parts to find flaws inside objects that are invisible to the SEM. WOW!
