Cheech and Chong’s Ride
This was taken at The Good Guys 2011 West Coast Nationals Rod and Custom show in Pleasanton, California. Amongst the 3000+ immaculately detailed vintage hotrods was this beauty. I was not certain, at first, if this was not indeed, Cheech and Chong’s Ride or perhaps a Mobile Medical Marijuana dispensary. After all, many of the proud car owners went through their formative years in the 60’s and 70’s and perhaps needed a bit of medication from time to time to ease those aching joints (no pun intended). The unique seat covers intrigued me to explore further.
Although not shown in this view (due to increasing harsh light as the Marine Layer burned away), the other side of the truck revealed the true nature of this beast. It is a service and promotional vehicle for a restoration and body shop! Not only that, but this truck sports a massive hopped up engine and can be lowered to sit on the ground like some tired dinosaur. I saw it lower itself – it was cool!
I think the humor might have been missed by some of the other car owners, who were removing dust from their brilliant paint jobs with imported feather dusters. Perhaps they just needed a bit of The Wacky Tabbacky to chill out.
