Farewell to a friend

This morning in Honolulu, the members of San Diego Insurance Women took flowers from their leis and used them to do a ceremonial “goodbye” to one of our own.  We sent our flowers into the Ocean for Melody Hubbard whom we lost to leukemia almost a year ago.  The interesting part of the ceremony is that the tide was pushing the water in waves to the shore and yet the flowers when tossed in the ocean formed a long line and went out as far as we could see.  It was such a spiritual moment and very special for Melody.

The sea, a ocean… When I go to Normandie, Ok I have visited Omaha Beach, next time some photos, I have some photos from Etretat… But I think on my grand father, an ancien sailor who wanted to have his “ashes”, I don’t how to write this in English, spread over the Baltic sea, but everytime I visit the sea I put a flower in the sea… It’s beautiful that you do…

    To all of you ladies,
THANK YOU. I know the San Diego Insurance World was a very big part of my mother’s life and I know that it continues to be apart of mine with the “adopted family” that I have come to know and love. This means so much to me. Thank you.

  6. Thank you all for the wonderful comments- To Taylor, your mother was very special and loved by many. The remembrance ceremony during the day where photos were shared and memories was a very special time for the entire Region that loved Mel- for SDIW, this Hawaiian ceremony was very fitting as a tribute. The flowers were amazing how they just all formed a line & slowly made their way to the ocean.
